On the festive evening of Mardi Gras, February 12, 2013, a night of celebration in New Orleans turned into a tragedy for 34-year-old Zabrina Davis. Davis, a resident of Baton Rouge, was in the city's 7th Ward when she was struck by gunfire in what authorities described as a seemingly random act of violence.
At approximately 8:15 p.m., Davis was walking with a 25-year-old female friend in front of Danny's Seafood on Onzaga Street when shots rang out.
Davis was tragically killed, while her companion was wounded in the abdomen and transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
Following the shooting, the New Orleans Police Department began an investigation into the incident. At the time, law enforcement officials did not publicly identify any suspects or make any arrests in connection with the homicide. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office officially identified Zabrina Davis as the victim. Despite the initial investigation and media coverage of the incident, there have been no subsequent public reports detailing any arrests or the identification of any suspects in the years since her death.
