In the summer of 2024, a life was tragically cut short in Florence, South Carolina. Lydell Preston Titus, a 33-year-old male, was killed on the afternoon of July 3rd in the 700 block of West Evans Street. His death stemmed from what authorities have described as an argument with another man.
During the dispute, the other individual, identified as 46-year-old Dino Piere Scott, allegedly brandished a handgun and shot Titus multiple times.
Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene, but their efforts were in vain as Titus was pronounced dead at the location of the shooting. An autopsy was later scheduled to be performed at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Law enforcement officers who responded to the incident were able to take Dino Piere Scott into custody at the scene without any further conflict. Following his arrest, Scott was transported to the Florence County Detention Center. He is facing several serious charges, including murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, possession of a stolen weapon, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Scott is currently being held without bond as the investigation into the shooting continues.
Lydell Titus was a graduate of West Florence High School's class of 2009 and was employed at McCall Farms. He was remembered by his family as a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Adrienne Titus, and their six children, as well as his parents and two sisters.
