On the early morning of July 20th, near the 16th Avenue North beach access point, an encounter turned deadly.
Reports suggest that an exchange of words occurred after Taylor may have bumped into someone. He was in the company of friends when a larger group of individuals appeared. In the ensuing events, Taylor was shot multiple times as he attempted to flee the scene. Emergency responders arrived to find him gravely wounded, and he was pronounced dead shortly after being transported to a nearby hospital.
The Myrtle Beach Police Department launched an intensive investigation into the homicide. Their efforts led to the arrests of multiple suspects in connection with the shooting. One of the individuals taken into custody was a 17-year-old male, who was charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.
