Cherry Weaver, a 35-year-old woman from Fort Walton Beach, Florida, was last seen on February 23, 1976. That morning, she sent her daughter to school from their home at the Chula Vista Apartments on Mooney Road. Weaver's husband was scheduled to meet her around lunchtime to look at a house, but when he arrived, she was missing. Neighbors recalled seeing a blue car near her apartment that morning, and a witness observed the vehicle with its trunk open around 8:40 a.m.
