On July 25, 2024, 18-year-old Thaao Elijah Stevens of Summerville, South Carolina, was fatally shot in Lincolnville. Deputies from the Charleston County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Mill Street and Dunmeyer Hill Road shortly before 8 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered Stevens' vehicle had collided head-on with construction equipment.
