On September 9, 2024, 22-year-old Jalen Latrell Allen of Columbia, South Carolina, was fatally shot at the Alight Apartments on Alexander Road in Cayce. Responding to reports of gunfire around 4 p.m., Cayce Police found Allen inside a vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. An autopsy was scheduled for September 12 at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
