In the winter of 2023, the life of 19-year-old Travis Antwan Fuller Jr., a male, was cut short in an eruption of violence in Cayce, South Carolina. The fatal encounter unfolded on the night of December 11th at the Abbott Arms Apartments on Wilkinson Street. Witnesses later recounted hearing a heated argument in the parking lot, followed by the terrifying sound of multiple gunshots.
In the immediate aftermath, a dark-colored vehicle was seen speeding away from the scene.
Suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body, Fuller was driven to a local hospital by a 15-year-old in a blue Chevrolet Camaro. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Around the same time, another teenager, a 17-year-old, arrived at the same hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest. Investigators would soon connect this individual to the events that led to Fuller's death.
The investigation into Fuller's death, which police described as gang-related, revealed a tragic story of a robbery gone wrong. Authorities allege that four individuals had conspired to rob Fuller of drugs and money. In January 2024, the Cayce Police Department announced the arrests of four suspects in connection with the homicide. Those taken into custody were 18-year-old Joshua Sanchez, 24-year-old Idris Xavier Scott, 24-year-old Jasmine Kiara Golson, and the 17-year-old who had been wounded during the incident.
The charges brought against the suspects were serious and varied. Sanchez and the 17-year-old were both charged with murder, attempted armed robbery, and conspiracy to commit armed robbery. Sanchez faced an additional charge for possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Golson and Scott were charged with accessory to murder after the fact and conspiracy to commit armed robbery. The investigation also led police to believe that Fuller's killing might be connected to a separate shooting that had occurred in November of the previous year.
