In the early morning hours of October 14, 2024, violence erupted outside the Caliente nightclub located on Remount Road in North Charleston, South Carolina. At approximately 1:46 a.m., officers from the North Charleston Police Department were dispatched to the scene following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered the body of 39-year-old Francisco Larios-Aviles, a Hispanic male who resided in Florida, lying face down in the street.
Despite the immediate life-saving efforts of first responders, he had sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
For several weeks following the incident, investigators worked without a public identification of a suspect. The North Charleston Police Department, working in conjunction with the Charleston County Coroner's Office, launched a thorough inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death. The initial lack of arrests left the case open as detectives gathered evidence and sought witness testimonies to piece together the events that led to the shooting outside the establishment.
A significant breakthrough in the case occurred nearly a month later on November 7, 2024. Authorities identified 29-year-old Adin Perez-Perez as the primary suspect in the killing. Perez-Perez was located and apprehended in Florida before being extradited back to South Carolina to face justice. He was subsequently booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center, where he was held without bond.
Following his arrest, Perez-Perez was formally charged with murder, attempted murder, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. While the arrest provided a step toward closure for the community and the victim's family, police indicated that the investigation into the motive and specific details of the altercation remained ongoing.
