In the afternoon of a fall day in North Charleston, South Carolina, the life of Anthony Lamar Heyward II, a 35-year-old man known affectionately as 'A.J.,' was tragically cut short. On October 15, 2022, police responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a residence on Scarsdale Avenue. Upon their arrival around 4 p.m., they were met by several children who chillingly informed them that their father had been shot.
