In the quiet community of Greer, South Carolina, a tragic event unfolded on the morning of November 16, 2024, forever altering the lives of two local families. On that Saturday, 30-year-old Cody Mckinley Norris, a male resident of Greer, was found suffering from a gunshot wound on Rustcraft Drive. First responders were dispatched to the scene following a 911 call reporting gunfire in the area around 9 a.m.
Despite their efforts, Norris was pronounced dead at the scene.
Alongside Cody Norris, first responders discovered another victim, 60-year-old Edward Joseph Galindez, who had also sustained a gunshot wound. Galindez was transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. The Greenville County Coroner's Office later confirmed the identities of both men. Investigators have indicated that they believe the shooting was an isolated incident, though the specific circumstances that led to the violence remain unclear to the public.
Cody Norris was a husband and a father to three sons. He was an avid enthusiast of disc golf, fishing, and Clemson Tigers football, and took great pride in his work as part of the maintenance and groundskeeping team at Greer Golf. He was born in Greenville and was the son of Shannon Mullinax Galindez and Ronald Eugene and Melissa Norris.
As the investigation into the double homicide continues, authorities have not yet publicly identified any suspects in the case. No arrests have been announced, and the Greenville County Sheriff's Office has urged anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward to assist with their ongoing inquiries. The community is left to mourn the loss of two of its members as they await answers and justice.
