In the summer of 2017, a domestic dispute in Bossier City, Louisiana, escalated into a tragedy that claimed the life of a young boy. Five-year-old Reese Williams Jr. was fatally shot on Sunday, July 30, 2017, at the Southern Living Mobile Home Park. The young male victim was with his father, Reese Wayne Williams, and two other children at the time of the incident.
The events unfolded when Reese Williams Sr. drove to the mobile home park to see the mother of his child, Nicorya T. Chisley.
An argument broke out between Williams, Chisley, and her boyfriend at the time, Keuntrel Rayshun Knight. The confrontation spilled outside, where Knight allegedly produced a firearm and fired multiple shots. During the altercation, both Reese Williams Sr. and his son were struck by gunfire. The elder Williams sustained wounds to his upper torso and buttocks and was hospitalized. Tragically, Reese Williams Jr. did not survive his injuries.
Following the shooting, authorities arrested 20-year-old Keuntrel Knight at the scene. He was subsequently charged with one count of second-degree murder for the death of Reese Williams Jr. and one count of attempted second-degree murder for the injuries inflicted upon Reese Williams Sr. Knight was booked into the Bossier Maximum-Security Prison in Plain Dealing.
The case proceeded through the legal system, culminating in a trial that brought some measure of closure to the family. In 2020, Keuntrel Knight was convicted for his role in the fatal shooting. A Bossier Parish judge sentenced him to a total of 47 years in prison for the death of the young boy and the wounding of his father.
