In the early hours of October 3, 2023, a violent altercation in Bossier City, Louisiana, claimed the life of 38-year-old Michael Hawkins. The male victim was found by police on the 1200 block of Waller Street at approximately 1:35 a.m. with multiple gunshot wounds to his chest.
The events leading to the fatal shooting reportedly began with an argument inside a residence that spilled out into the front yard. The confrontation escalated, culminating in the shooting of Hawkins.
He was quickly transported to Ochsner LSU Health Hospital for medical attention but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Following an investigation into the homicide, a 16-year-old suspect was identified and arrested in connection with the death of Michael Hawkins. The juvenile suspect was subsequently charged with second-degree murder and simple burglary of a motor vehicle. A bond was set at $1.5 million.
