In the early evening hours of July 1, 2020, emergency services in Bossier City, Louisiana, received multiple reports of a shooting at the Pelican Gardens apartment complex located at 1820 East Texas Street. Upon their arrival just before 8:00 p.m., police officers discovered an unresponsive male inside one of the apartments. The young man, identified as 19-year-old Z’Kryius Wilson, a male resident of Bossier City, was suffering from what appeared to be several gunshot wounds.
He was immediately transported to Oschner LSU Health Shreveport for medical attention, but tragically, he was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Investigators at the scene quickly determined that the shooting had not occurred within the apartment where Z’Kryius was found, but rather in the parking lot of the complex. As the Bossier City Police Department delved into the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting, their investigation led them to identify a suspect in the case. Detectives honed in on 27-year-old Devarcus Deandre Harris of nearby Shreveport, Louisiana, as the individual allegedly responsible for Wilson's death.
Following the identification of Harris as the primary suspect, law enforcement officials secured a warrant for his arrest. On the Thursday following the shooting, Devarcus Deandre Harris was taken into custody by authorities. He was subsequently charged with one count of second-degree murder in connection with the death of Z’Kryius Wilson. After his arrest, Harris was booked into the Bossier City jail, and a bond was set at $350,000. The investigation into the motive and the events leading up to the deadly encounter in the apartment complex parking lot continued.
