In the early evening of July 8, 2020, the life of Jerome Durham, a 37-year-old Black/African American male, was cut short by gunfire in Bossier City, Louisiana. The fatal incident occurred inside a residence located in the 1900 block of Scott Street. At approximately 5:58 p.m., the Bossier City Police Department received a report of a shooting and promptly dispatched officers to the scene.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered Mr. Durham suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency medical services from the Bossier City Fire Department were also present and attempted to render aid, but tragically, Jerome Durham was pronounced dead at the scene. The initial response from law enforcement included the detainment of one individual at the residence for questioning, though it was not immediately clear what, if any, involvement this person had in the shooting.
In the days that followed, the Bossier City Police Department continued their investigation into what they classified as a homicide.
