On a tragic day in Jackson, Mississippi, a 34-year-old Black man named Nikita Bennet lost his life in a hail of gunfire. The violent incident unfolded on February 6, 2023, on Ridgeway Street. Bennet was inside a vehicle with his two-year-old son when he was shot multiple times. Miraculously, the young child was not physically harmed during the attack.
