In the spring of 2023, the life of a Jackson, Mississippi man was tragically cut short in an act of violence that left his community seeking answers. Steven Jameris Hackler, a 55-year-old Black male, was discovered deceased in his residence on Old Spanish Trail on April 26, 2023. The cause of his untimely death was determined to be multiple gunshot wounds.
When officers from the Jackson Police Department arrived at his home, they found a scene that suggested a violent end to Mr.
Hackler's life. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Compounding the tragedy, family members reported that his vehicle, a black 2018 Nissan Frontier with Mississippi license plate B039J, was missing from his home. Investigators believe that one or more unidentified individuals fled the scene in the stolen truck immediately following the shooting.
In the aftermath of the discovery, the Jackson Police Department launched an investigation into the homicide. Despite their efforts, no arrests have been made in connection with Steven Hackler's death.
