On the evening of October 19, 2025, Melvin Bass, 22, male, Black, was shot and killed in the 900 block of Cooper Road in Jackson, Mississippi. Police and witnesses said an altercation erupted near the Valero gas station moments before shots were fired from a white sedan—possibly a Honda—or a small SUV.
