On May 31, 2023, a tragic drive-by shooting occurred in Greenwood, Mississippi, resulting in the deaths of 45-year-old Dewanna McClee and 20-year-old Brandon Shaffer Jr. The incident also left McClee's 24-year-old son, Tamarkus Martin, critically injured. The shooting took place in front of Scott Petroleum at the intersection of U.S. 82 and Mississippi 7, which Greenwood Police Chief Terrence Craft described as a targeted attack.
