In a tragic turn of events on September 9, 2023, in Greenwood, Mississippi, 29-year-old Tyissha Kiosha Pritchett, a female, lost her life in a brutal act of domestic violence. The incident, which unfolded on Janet Road, also claimed the life of her 30-year-old brother, Torrance Payton. The violence erupted when Tyissha's husband, 32-year-old Robert Earl Pritchett Jr., fatally shot both his wife and brother-in-law.
Just moments before the shootings, the couple's seven-year-old daughter
was struck in the head with a blunt instrument, suffering a significant injury. Another child, a five-year-old, was in an adjacent room when the horrific events took place. Following the deadly assault, Robert Pritchett Jr. fled the scene, sparking a manhunt by law enforcement.
Three days later, on September 12, 2023, Robert Pritchett Jr. surrendered to the Leflore County Sheriff's Department. He was subsequently charged with two counts of capital murder for the deaths of his wife and brother-in-law, and one count of aggravated assault in connection with the injury to his daughter. The case took a final, somber turn on January 2, 2024, when Robert Pritchett Jr. was found to have died by suicide while in custody at the Leflore County Jail, bringing a close to the legal proceedings but leaving a lasting tragedy for the family and community.
