On June 29, 2023, 49-year-old Greenwood resident Riydah Fadel was fatally shot during a robbery at a building he owned on Mississippi 7. The Leflore County Sheriff's Department reported that Fadel was pronounced dead at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds.
