On July 19, 2023, 40-year-old Marcus Tyrone Wheatley was fatally shot at his residence on Highway 35 North in Sardis, Mississippi. The Panola County Sheriff's Office responded to a call around 12:30 p.m. and discovered Wheatley deceased from multiple gunshot wounds.
