On May 18, 2019, Robert Robertson, a 24-year-old National Guardsman from Sardis, Mississippi, was tragically killed in a shooting incident. The shooting occurred at a gas station located at the intersection of Highway 315 and Highway 51 in Sardis. Robertson had recently returned home from Afghanistan on March 7, 2019, and was stationed in Grenada. The incident took place around 11:30 a.m., and witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots.
