On August 26, 2023, 19-year-old Alexis Kiera McLaurin was fatally shot at the Wellington Place complex in Gulfport, Mississippi. The incident occurred shortly before 1:00 a.m., when Gulfport Police responded to reports of a shooting in the 400 block of Kahler Street. Upon arrival, officers found McLaurin deceased from a gunshot wound.
