In a tragic turn of events stemming from a personal conflict, Siris Queon Samaritan Catchings, a 21-year-old male, was fatally shot on March 4, 2024, in Jackson, Mississippi. The incident unfolded in front of a relative's home on Barrett Avenue, bringing a violent end to what police described as an ongoing dispute concerning Catchings' wife. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Catchings had succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation swiftly pointed to 19-year-old Joshua
Taylor as a suspect. Authorities indicated that Taylor and Catchings were acquainted, and the shooting was the culmination of a prolonged disagreement between them. The search for Taylor concluded on March 13, 2024, when law enforcement located him at a hotel in Lincoln County.
As deputies moved in to make the arrest, Taylor reportedly shot himself. Despite the self-inflicted wound, he survived and was subsequently taken into custody. Following his apprehension, Joshua Taylor was formally charged with murder in connection with the death of Siris Catchings.
