In the city of Jackson, Mississippi, a sense of unease settled over a neighborhood in the 3700 block of Liberty Street on the morning of October 13, 2025. Inside a residence, 33-year-old LaTereance Barnes, a Black/African American male, was found deceased. Responding officers, alerted around 10:30 a.m., discovered that he had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
