On a Sunday evening in March 2024, a journey through Mississippi on a Greyhound bus took a tragic turn, ending the life of 25-year-old Jay Jackson of Decatur, Georgia. The bus was traveling along Interstate 10 near Ocean Springs when violence erupted.
Around 11 p.m., a passenger, later identified as Rashad Price, 26, of Slidell, Louisiana, allegedly shot and killed Jackson.
In the aftermath of the fatal shooting, Price reportedly demanded that the bus driver pull over and let him off the vehicle. The driver complied, stopping at the nearest exit and immediately dialing 911. Fortunately, no one else on the bus sustained any injuries.
Law enforcement began a search for the suspect, and in the early hours of Monday morning, around 3 a.m., deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff's Department spotted a man matching Price's description crossing the interstate. Price was taken into custody and subsequently charged with murder. He was booked into the Jackson County jail and held without bond.
