On May 5, 2023, a tragic mass shooting occurred at the Scratch Kitchen restaurant in downtown Ocean Springs, Mississippi, resulting in the death of 19-year-old Chase Harmon from Pascagoula. The incident took place during a Cinco de Mayo celebration that had attracted over 200 attendees.
