On March 25, 2024, 14-year-old Cameron Horne-Crook, a Black male, was found deceased in Jackson, Mississippi. A student at Northwest Rankin Middle School, he had been shot multiple times in the back of a vehicle on Ridgecrest Drive. His mother, Violet Horne-Wash, described her son as 'fun, loving' and always 'cracking jokes.' She mentioned he was looking forward to starting high school.
