On a Friday morning in Jackson, Mississippi, the familiar scene of a busy gas station was shattered by violence that claimed the life of Joshua Bennet. The incident occurred on May 17, 2024, at the Shell gas station located in the 3600 block of West Northside Drive, near Medgar Evers Boulevard. Bennet was inside the gas station when he was shot.
