On June 7, 2024, the community of Clarksdale, Mississippi, was shaken by the violent death of Black male Artis "Ski" Ferguson, a well-known local business owner. Ferguson, who operated Ski's Wrecker Service and was also associated with Clarksdale Public Utilities, was fatally wounded during a shooting incident that authorities described as a rampage.
