In the early moments of a Monday morning in Gulfport, Mississippi, the life of Terrence Anthony Young Jr., a 16-year-old Black male, was irrevocably altered. Just after midnight on September 16, 2024, police were called to the vicinity of Indiana Avenue and Jackson Street, where they discovered the teenager inside a vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound. The promising young athlete, a student and football player at Gulfport High School, was in critical condition.
