In the late spring of 2024, a quiet, wooded area in Gulfport, Mississippi, became the scene of a tragic death. Fifty-year-old Kevin Edward Davis, a male resident of Gulfport, was found deceased on May 17, 2024. His body was discovered in a wooded area in the 2800 block of 33rd Avenue, a location known to have paths leading to homeless camps. An autopsy later confirmed that Davis had died from a gunshot wound.
The Gulfport Police Department immediately launched an investigation into the
shooting. Their efforts led to the identification of a suspect, 28-year-old Demarcus Rashad Pugh of Gulfport. Within days of the discovery of Davis's body, Pugh was located and taken into custody.
Following his arrest, Demarcus Rashad Pugh was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of Kevin Edward Davis. He was subsequently booked into the Harrison County Adult Detention Center. A judge set his bond at $1 million. The investigation continued as authorities worked to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting in the secluded woods of Gulfport.
