In the winter of 2023, the lives of three aspiring rappers from Michigan were tragically cut short in a case that continues to seek full resolution. Among them was Dante Wicker, a 31-year-old male from Melvindale. His story is intertwined with that of his friends, 27-year-old Armani Kelly of Oscoda and 31-year-old Montoya Givens of Detroit. The three men were reported missing on January 21, 2023, after a planned performance at Lounge 31 in Detroit was unexpectedly canceled due to equipment issues. This cancellation marked the beginning of a nearly two-week period of uncertainty and anguish for their families.
The search for the missing men came to a grim conclusion on February 2, 2023, when their bodies were discovered in the basement of a derelict, rat-infested apartment building in Highland Park. The remains were found concealed under debris and construction materials, suggesting a deliberate attempt to hide the crime. Investigators later confirmed that all three men, including Wicker, had died from multiple gunshot wounds. Police believe the men were killed upstairs in the abandoned building and then moved to the basement.
