On June 1, 2023, Ashia Davis, also known as Asia Davis, a 34-year-old transgender woman, was found shot and killed in a hotel room at the Woodward Inn in Highland Park, Michigan. Police were dispatched to the scene around 1:30 a.m. after receiving a 911 call reporting a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered Davis deceased from a gunshot wound to the head. Witnesses indicated that she had been shot, but further details regarding the circumstances of her death were initially unclear.
