On November 12, 2023, Ta'Rique Dodge, a 25-year-old man from Grand Rapids, Michigan, was fatally shot in an incident that occurred on McReynolds Avenue NW. Dodge arrived at a local hospital with life-threatening gunshot wounds around 3:15 a.m. on Sunday morning. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. The Kent County Medical Examiner later ruled Dodge's death a homicide.
