On the evening of January 7, 2024, the sounds of roller skates on the pavement and the laughter of children filled the air on the corner of Beaconsfield and Courville streets on Detroit's east side. Among the children enjoying the simple pleasure of an evening outdoors was 11-year-old Latrelle Mines. A happy and bright young boy, Latrelle was known for his love of playing, dancing, and skating.
