In Flint, Michigan, a dispute between neighbors escalated into a fatal encounter, claiming the life of 30-year-old Brian Davionte Towns. On March 7, 2024, an argument erupted on Redcliffe Drive, culminating in Towns being shot. When authorities arrived at the scene, they discovered Towns suffering from a single gunshot wound. Despite resuscitation efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the shooting quickly led to the identification of a suspect, Towns'
neighbor, 39-year-old Jimmy Friend III. Friend was subsequently arrested in connection with the death. Another individual, a 38-year-old man, was also involved in the altercation and was stabbed, though his role in the incident is less clear.
In February, Jimmy Friend III pleaded guilty to a total of seven charges, including second-degree murder, for his role in the death of Brian Towns. In March 2025, he was sentenced to a term of 17 to 70 years in prison for the shooting. Following the completion of this sentence, Friend will serve an additional two years on a felony firearms charge.
