The life of Davonte Green-Flourney, a 22-year-old Black / African American male, was tragically cut short on the evening of October 1, 2021, in Flint Township, Michigan. Known to his loved ones as a caring and loving individual, Davonte had recently relocated back to his hometown of Flint after living in Atlanta, Georgia. He was employed at Flatrock Manor and was known for his love of music, cooking, and spending time with his extensive family, including his parents Tiffany Green and Anthony
Flourney. On the night of the incident, he was fulfilling a familial duty, driving to pick up his younger brother from a local football game.
Around 8:45 p.m., Davonte was operating his vehicle, a Chrysler 200, traveling along South Ballenger Highway near Miller Road on the border of Flint and Flint Township. While he was in transit, shots were fired, striking him while he was inside the car. Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find him suffering from a fatal gunshot wound; he was subsequently pronounced dead. The sudden violence of the event left his family and the community devastated, with his mother later expressing the profound pain of losing her son and her hope that those responsible would be held accountable.
Following the shooting, the Flint Township Police Department launched a homicide investigation, assisted by the Michigan State Police and the Genesee County Sheriff's Office.
