In the late hours of March 26, 2024, a young Black/African American man's life was cut short in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Twenty-two-year-old Alonzo Lee Jones-Hollie of Belleville was discovered in the driver's seat of his car with fatal gunshot wounds. The incident, which marked Washtenaw County's first homicide of the year, took place around 11 p.m. in the parking lot of the Sauk Trail Pointe apartments located on West Michigan Avenue near Second Avenue.
