In the early morning hours of May 25, 2024, the life of 21-year-old Tyshaan Williams of Battle Creek, Michigan, was tragically cut short. Police were called to the Teal Run apartment complex on Horizon Drive at approximately 5:40 a.m. where they discovered Williams with several apparent gunshot wounds. First responders attempted life-saving measures, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Battle Creek Police Department launched an investigation into the shooting death, and in the days that followed, identified a suspect. Authorities began searching for 22-year-old Jamareon Antonio Stein-Harris in connection with the homicide. Stein-Harris had known connections in both Battle Creek and Kalamazoo.
After a period of searching, which required his extradition from Ohio, Jamareon Stein-Harris was apprehended. He was subsequently charged with open murder and felony firearm for his alleged role in the death of Tyshaan Williams. During his arraignment in November 2025, a Calhoun County magistrate denied him bond, citing a history of failing to appear for court hearings. If convicted of first-degree murder, Stein-Harris faces a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
