On June 27, 2024, Deputy Sheriff William Henry Butler Jr., age 51, was tragically killed in the line of duty during a traffic stop in Jefferson Township, Michigan. The incident occurred just after 2:15 p.m. in this Hillsdale County community, located approximately 10 miles north of the Ohio border and 20 miles south of Jackson.
