Jordan Thornhill, a 23-year-old recent graduate of Michigan State University, was celebrating the Fourth of July with friends and fraternity brothers at a large, illegal block party on Cherrylawn Street on the west side of Detroit. In the early morning hours of July 5, 2024, the joyful atmosphere of the gathering was shattered by the sound of gunfire. Amid the chaos, Jordan was fatally wounded.
