On a summer day in Clinton Township, Michigan, the life of 49-year-old Yolanda Cook was tragically cut short. On July 5, 2024, she was fatally shot inside her home on Harper Avenue. In the same violent incident, her 31-year-old son, Arkollin Dleon Cook, was also shot and critically injured. He was rushed to a nearby hospital and placed on life support, but succumbed to his injuries on July 13, 2024.
Shortly after the shooting, Yolanda's 24-year-old son, Corey Deyshaun Cook, walked into the Clinton Township Police Department and informed officers of what had transpired. Police conducted a welfare check at the family's residence and discovered Yolanda deceased at the scene and her other son gravely wounded.
Corey Deyshaun Cook was taken into custody and subsequently charged with first-degree premeditated murder in the death of his mother, assault with intent to murder his brother, and two counts of felony firearm. Following his brother Arkollin's death, the charges against him were amended to include a second count of first-degree premeditated murder.
At his arraignment in 41B District Court, Corey Cook's bond was set at $1 million. A probable cause hearing was scheduled for late July 2024 as the legal process against him for the deaths of his mother and brother commenced.
