On August 31, 2024, 14-year-old Darean Davis of Detroit was fatally shot outside the Michigan State Fair in Novi, Michigan. The incident occurred around 10 p.m. in the parking lot of the Suburban Collection Showplace, where the fair was being held. Darean, a sophomore at University High School in Ferndale, was attending the fair with friends when an altercation escalated into violence. Another 14-year-old boy was also injured in the shooting but survived.
