In the early morning hours of September 8, 2024, a tragic series of events unfolded that claimed the life of 24-year-old Paige Marie Knox, a Black/African American female from Dearborn, Michigan. Knox was an uninvolved passenger in a vehicle on the 5400 block of Argyle Street in Dearborn when gunfire erupted. Two men, believing the driver of the car was attempting to steal a vehicle from their property, fired multiple shots at the car.
During the shooting, Paige Marie Knox was fatally wounded. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Shahid Al-Aziz Muhammad, sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, while another passenger, Ebony Aaron Pugh, was unharmed. Following the shooting, instead of seeking help, Muhammad and Pugh allegedly drove to an alley on the 15000 block of Grand River Avenue in Detroit, where they disposed of Knox's body. The vehicle was later found burned on Ellsworth Street in Detroit.
An investigation led Dearborn police to arrest four individuals in connection with the incident. The two men who fired at the vehicle, Mohammed Haitham Ahmad and Ali Haitham Ahmad, were charged with second-degree murder, manslaughter, and felony firearm. They were held without bond. The occupants of the car with Knox, Shahid Al-Aziz Muhammad and Ebony Aaron Pugh, faced charges of attempted unlawful driving away of an automobile, concealing a death, and third-degree arson. Their bond was set at $250,000. All four suspects were arraigned and were scheduled for a probable cause conference in early October 2024.
