In a tragic series of events that began with a dispute over a dog fight, Ronnie Gibson, Jr., a 27-year-old male, was shot and killed on January 13, 2023, in Baltimore, Maryland. The incident escalated from a verbal altercation into a fatal pursuit, leaving a community to mourn and authorities to piece together the moments that led to the senseless violence.
The conflict reportedly began on the 800 block of Stoll Street when a dog belonging to the girlfriend of Tyyea Gee, 39, became
involved in a fight with another dog. An argument erupted between Gee and a woman who was in her car observing the incident. After the initial confrontation, the woman drove away, only to return shortly after with Gibson. Eyewitnesses stated that upon his return, Gibson was causing a scene, which prompted Gee and several other men to approach him.
What followed was a harrowing chase. Gibson fled down the street, but he was pursued by two men armed with handguns. The chase ended in a hail of gunfire, and Gibson was fatally wounded. The immediate aftermath was captured in part by a Baltimore city Crime Watch camera, though the camera's view did not extend to the shooting itself, providing a fragmented but crucial piece of the investigative puzzle.
In the ensuing investigation, Tyyea Gee emerged as a primary suspect.
