On January 13, 2023, 17-year-old Joseph Kawa was shot in Baltimore, Maryland, in the unit block of Caton Avenue. He was one of two victims in the incident, with the other being a 17-year-old who also sustained injuries. Following the shooting, Kawa was transported to Shock Trauma but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter. His death marked a tragic addition to the ongoing violence in Baltimore, where gun-related incidents have been a significant concern for the community.
