On May 10, 2023, at approximately 9:35 pm, officers responded to a shooting in the 1800 block of Tanow Place in District Heights, Maryland. Upon arrival, they found 17-year-old Nia Johnson and her father, 41-year-old Joseph McCreary, inside the home suffering from gunshot wounds.
