On a Saturday evening in Baltimore, Maryland, on May 13, 2023, the life of 21-year-old Da'wan Amin James, a Black male, was irrevocably altered. In the 4800 block of The Alameda, the sound of gunfire shattered the night, and when police responded at approximately 9:52 p.m., they discovered a scene of violence. James had been shot, suffering from a serious gunshot wound.
Emergency medical services were dispatched to the location, and the injured young man was swiftly transported to a
local hospital. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, the injuries James sustained proved to be too severe. On the following day, May 14, 2023, Da'wan Amin James succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead.
The Baltimore Police Department's Northern District detectives have taken charge of the homicide investigation. At this time, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects in the fatal shooting, and no arrests have been announced. The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to seek information from the public to bring closure to the case.
