Desean McElveen, a 17-year-old from East Baltimore, was tragically killed on January 12, 2017. McElveen, who was known for his artistic talents and involvement with Baltimore Youth Arts, was walking with a 20-year-old man in the Coldstream-Homestead-Montebello neighborhood when a black van pulled up beside them. A passenger in the van opened fire, fatally wounding McElveen and injuring his companion. The 20-year-old man managed to walk to a nearby hospital for treatment of his leg wounds.
